In my experience, David’s Bridal is great on price, low on customer service. I’ve been through the David’s Bridal experience both as a bride and several times as a bridesmaid. The sales staff appears to be more interested in making a sale than really providing any service.
As a bride: I told my sales consultant what I was looking for; :no veil, not strapless, no poofy dresses, no extra colors. The consultant kept putting veils on me, giving me big poofy strapless dresses with extra colors. In short, she tried to sell me on everything I DIDN’T want! She went so far as to ask my mother to speak to me because I wouldn’t buy the gown she thought was best for my taste! Ha! Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere.
As a bridesmaid: Even with appointments made in advance, they crammed three bridesmaids into each dressing room, had us try on dresses in styles / designs the bride DIDN’T like and pushed accessories even after the Bride said she didn’t like them. While I’ve bought several gowns from David’s Bridal – each experience has been frustrating, with one exception.
When my daughter was a flower girl: I was able to shop for dresses and my daughter try them on without pushy (or even helpful) sales people approaching us. We were in and out in 15 minutes.
David’s Bridal is a good resource if you’re on a strict budget. However if you’re able to spend a bit more money in a boutique, I’d recommend it. You’ll get significantly better delivery times and customer service.
As for wedding music: I'm a big fan of hiring a live band. There is something timeless and fun about having people to interact with rather than a DJ that sits behind a sound board looking irritated all evening!
