Being a bridesmaid is perhaps one of the most important roles in the wedding following the bride and groom. To be chosen as a bridesmaid is truly an honor as to be chosen means that the bride picked you above all the rest, to be at her side through the most important day of her life. A bridesmaid can be a best friend, sister, cousin or who ever the bride holds dear to her. Who ever is chosen you can bet that the bride values this person for many reasons. A bridesmaid is there through the hectic time of preparing and planning for the wedding as an adviser, errand runner, and confidant as well as to help with just about any menial task that the bride has to deal with. The bride should have at least one bridesmaid or maid of honor that she can count on as being reliable, organized, and happy to help whenever she is needed. It is also helpful if this person lives close to the bride. Below is a list of the common duties of the bridesmaid.
Duties of a bridesmaid's:
Being a bridesmaid is truly an honor and a job to take seriously. The bride may not ask much of the bridesmaid but support or she may count on her bridesmaid to handle all the details while she focuses on the new life she will be embarking on. When taking on a task such as this, you must be prepared for the expenses that go with the title such as, the dress, the shower, travel and lodging to name a few. If you have been asked to be a bridesmaid, talk with the bride to see what exactly is expected of you. If you feel that this is something that may be too much for you to handle, talk with the bride about splitting the duties among the other bridesmaids or close friends.

Tips for Writing the Perfect Bridesmaid Wedding Speech
As the person whom your best friend or sister has trusted to speak about them on their special day, you have a very important task to behold, the bridesmaid wedding speech. You are however, lucky in the fact that you do not need to necessarily be as comical as your best man counterpart has to attempt to be and you can be a little slushy without embarrassing yourself or the special pair.
How to Begin
This is often the trickiest stage of the bridesmaid wedding speech so it is a good idea to start how you mean to go o. First of all, you will need to introduce yourself and details how long you have had the pleasure of knowing the bride and where you met. You can go ahead and describe how she has transformed in the beautiful woman that has fallen in love and is now celebrating the biggest day of her life.
As a bridesmaid, you have almost free reign over what you can talk about but do try to be ladylike and not too vulgar when talking about embarrassing stories from the past; that is the best man's job! Talk about special moments that you have shared which explain why you are now so honored so be trusted with a speech on the couple's wedding day.
The Mid-Section
This is where you can inject a little humor into the speech, speaking about what you thought of the groom when you first met could be a particularly funny moment. You can be honest but jovial so as not to cause offence, but finish with explaining how you have watched him grow into a man and treat your best friend as a princess. This is always a winning move, as you will see the mother of the groom blush with pride! Choose an appropriate quote from a story or a poem and link this into how you see the couple in your own eyes, this will capture the imagination of your audience and keep all eyes fixed onto you.
The Big Finale
Take a big breathe and have a serious moment with the friends and family of the newlyweds, this is the time to express to them how proud you are to have them both in your lives and to see how obvious it is that they will remain happy together for years to come. You could possibly joke about how you imagine them to be in thirty years time; is one particularly naggy and is the other already suffering from selective hearing? Well, this will only get worse with age!
Finish with a big good luck to the happy couple of request the audience to stand for a toast to the happy couple. Cheers will follow along with the smile from the beautiful blushing bride. Well done – You have done her proud on the happiest day of her life, success!

I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding and I have curly hair, how should I have my hair done for the wedding?
The wedding is in late summer so it will be hot but the wedding and reception are indoors. My hair is long and curly and I'm having trouble trying to decide on the best style for that day. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
Since most weddings are a formal occasion, having your hair in an up-do seems appealing. Also, since the weather maybe hot at that time, it works out (wearing it up). However, if you choose to get it professionally done, they can recreate it into any style you want with curls or straightened. It's great that you have long hair, it gives you more options for styles. I would recommend looking thru magazines to get a more visual idea of what you like.
If you want to show off your long locks, but still be formal... wear the top half up (pinned with barrels - ask a stylists) and have the rest hanging down your back.
You might also want to consider the hairstyles that the other bridesmaids are opting for. The bride might be hoping for uniformity (same dresses, hairdos, jewelry, etc.).
