How do I install custom content into the Sims 2 game?
Okay so I have the Sims 2 deluxe and I've downloaded some custom content but I have no clue how to make it even register the fact that I have said custom content downloaded. So how do I make it so I can use custom content?
Usually the downloads automatically load into the game but there may be something called SimPacks which need to be installed, or you may have downloaded files that are compressed into zips or rar files, and they need to be opened. Look in My Documents/EA Games/The Sims and find a folder called Downloads. Look in the folder and click any folders that have zippers or any little icons which are the simpacks. Then the actual files will install into your downloads folder. I recommend a program that is a free download called Sims 2 Clean Installer. It makes downloading content into the game safer and simpler.
Now that your downloads are in the game, there is another step before you can use them. Next, load the Sims 2. It may take longer than usual to load. Then it may come up with a notice that says it found custom content, and ask you whether you want to load it. Choose yes. If that doesn't happen the first time, go into your game options and choose to load custom content. Then reload your game, and you may come up with the warning notice again.
