Assuming 42" usable width fabric, you can cut 4 widths across 45" fabric; if there's 43", you can get 5 across (you cannot use the selvages of the fabric).
For 42" wide: 170 chair covers/4 per width = 42.5 lengths of fabric, round up to 43 lengths x 101" = 4343"=120.7 yards
For 43" wide: 170/5=34 x 101"=3434" = 95.4 yards
For 58" (useable) wide = 6 per width --- 79.5 yards
For 60" (useable) wide = 7 per width -- 68.14 yards
To those estimates, I'd add at least another 6 yards to cope with the inevitable miscut or mishemmed straps.
