Your feet certainly won't thank you this year, as heels are higher than ever. Heels are seen with every look from formal to casual. Gold is a must have this season. Many outfits seemed to be built around one flashy gold element. All in all, it's a very exciting year fashion wise. The mood about the economy may be somber but the mood in the fashion world is cheerful and optimistic.

I don't know if you think red would be too bright, but I think going with red shoes and perhaps a red necklace would really make the outfit pop, and it would look gorgeous.
if you don't wanna go with red, maybe go with something like grey or silver, like you said.
as for hair accessories, a flower would be great, but i think if you're going with silver grey shoes and the same colored clutch, then don't go with a pink flower. i think a white flower would be better.
depending on the color of your hair, you might go with a black flower as well.
